About the Talk:

Dr. Alec Miller will discuss the mental health challenges of our youth in the 21st century, including the impact of the pandemic. He will then describe the importance of social and emotional learning, and the evidence based on DBT skills of emotional problem solving.

Including:

Mindfullness

Distress Tolerance

Emotion Regulation

Interpersonal Effectiveness, which are all useful for students, partents and teachers alike

About the presenter:

Alec L. Miller, is a clinical psychologist, teacher, researcher, author, and disseminator of evidence-based treatments. He is co-Founder and co-Director of Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants, a private group practice and training center based in White Plains and Manhattan. He is also a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. For 20 years, from 1995 to 2015, he served as: Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychology, Director of the Adolescent Depression and Suicide Program, Associate Director of the Psychology Training, and Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.
